Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and a businesswoman. She is co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist, author TV personality, and the owner of the liberally independent online newspaper The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she moved to England when she was just 16 and graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student to graduate, she was voted president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. When she graduated, she made her impression as a conservative syndicated columnist and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few months later, she created an online platform for voice that gave critical opinions about the current political climate. Her popularity has led to the attraction of many well-known contributors who shared their opinions on politics, news and other topics. Arianna was famous when she announced in 2003 that she would candidly run as an independent candidate in the California Recall Election in order to replace Governor Davis. In addition, she was the leader of an Detroit initiative to encourage energy efficient vehicles. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as one of the top women in media gaining 12th spot on the listing and the following year Guardian included her in the top 100 list of media. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and the post was made president by this media group. This included many AOL brands at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant as well as a journalist. Although she was close to her father, it was her bond with her mother which shaped her life. Even during her formative time, she showed leadership skills for which are still in high demand. When she turned 16 she emigrated to the United Kingdom to pursue her studies. She enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the debating society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. In 1972, she graduated with an MA in Economics. In the years following after graduation she was columnist and TV presenter. Also, she appeared on an edition of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books after receiving editorial advice from him.
