April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball players who have won medals in many Olympics. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian who will be joining her at Tokyo. Ross is hoping to secure the Olympic the first medal of gold but she is also aiming to earn greater. With her age of 39, this may be her last opportunity to claim the Olympic gold. She remains optimistic that she will be able to win top awards. Ross on NBC Boston, said that when the team performs well or at all they could win a gold. Therefore, I'm hoping to have some luck as well. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. Along with participating in a variety of sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she played indoor track and volleyball. Although she was a pro in indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her performance was above the average. Her college biography states that she was an outside hitter middle blocker, as well as a setter during her volleyball career at high school. For her efforts she was named in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross has been playing with Klineman since 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before this. In fact, she won multiple major tournaments with two different partners, one of whom is a volleyball icon. From 2007 to 2013 she teamed alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be a formidable force in the world circuit, winning a 2009 world title with each other. The 2012 Olympic Games, they received the gold medal. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends that won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, edged their opponents to claim the gold medal. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. The duo were able to win bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC during her college days, prior to becoming a professional. This was an impressive run for Ross at the college level. In her first year at the school, 2000 earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of Year awards and be an All-American. She was also one of the key players to help the Trojans reach the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated by a tragic incident in her sophomore year. However, she was able to make it an All-American once more. Through her two final seasons with the Trojans team, she led them to a national title each year. The individual accomplishments of her have established her as a volleyball legend. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Margie Ross did not get to see her daughter's rise to fame as a beach volleyball player. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001, when Ross was still in the midst of being a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. Ross holds her mother close to her heart. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her both at and off the beaches.
