Firefly The Firefly, the new hit Whedon series, was a result of one-off episodes. Summer Glau played River Tam with great ease. Glau was an excellent actor. The character Tam was compelled to participate in trials conducted by the government in which she was trained to be an assassin. Tam's ability to manage emotions was taken away from her. Glau got the chance to showcase not just her acting abilities but also her fighting skills as a character in Firefly. Glau had the ability to make the most of her athletic skills due to her training as a sleuth. Summer Glau was classically-trained as dancer. The talent she displays in her dancing also include studies in tango and flamenco but it was a fractured toe that put her off dancing. Firefly ran for just one season, but gained a passionate following. Whedon was so devoted to Firefly that he went back a couple years later.
